Let live music come to you

Nice use of sound effects in this idents campaign to promote Absolute Radio’s sponsorship of live music. Ran both on national TV and festivals.

Check the remaining ones in the gallery.

Thanks Steve.

It’s alive…

  August 12th, 2009 by admin

…and kicking. Our new website is up and running on the internets. Explore, play, spot all those nasty bugs that always live in recently uploaded websites, and let us know what you think (yes, we finally solved the ‘comments’ problem, so now everyone can do it, no excuses)

Did we mention Pedro did it? We probably did, but all those working nights deserve a second mention.

Idea Bounty

Nice, big, juicy post about the One Shot Film Festival on the Idea Bounty blog.

They even made us sound like clever and articulate guys, definitely not an easy job!

Have a read.

Countdown…

  August 7th, 2009 by admin

We’re counting down to the launch of our new website. It’s looking great and we can’t wait to see it live! It was designed and built by Pedro Espírito Santo and we can’t thank him enough (actually we’re buying him drinks).

In the meantime we reached the 37 entries plateau (what a nice sentence). Thanks to everyone who participated so far, we can’t thank you enough (we can’t buy you drinks though, sorry).

One Shot around the world

  July 28th, 2009 by admin

One of the joys of being an online festival is that it makes us instantly global – witness a couple of mentions in media from different countries.

In Canada, we got a mention on the TA2 music and arts blog [thanks Heather Jane].

Meanwhile in Spain we appeared in the online production industry magazine Filmlatina.com – the Spanish equivalent of Boards magazine.

And entries continue to come in from countries around the globe, check our Vimeo group.

30 films and counting

  July 28th, 2009 by admin

So we’re less than 30 days old, but already we have 30 entries for you to view.

They show a range of ways to use the One Shot format, so hopefully they inspire you to create or dig out some ideas of your own and enter them.

We know there are quite a few others in production, so keep checking-in to see what comes up.

Work in progress

If you’ve had some problems accessing our site over the last few days, our apologies. We are in the process of updating it, and there will be times when it is down.

You can still post entries, though, at our Vimeo group.

Tiger Woods

Another one of those annoyingly simple, ‘I wish I’d done it’ One Shot ads. Having Tiger Woods there helps, though.

Bear Fight

Most of you have probably seen this before, but we just couldn’t ignore it. What a great example of a One Shot Film.

Simple idea, perfect execution, and the usual envious feelings that ads like this always bring out.

I particularly like the fact that when you saw it for the first couple of times you couldn’t help but think ‘is that a real bear?’

Moving Posters

Interesting use of the RED ONE camera. Because the RED is, basically, a glorified Digital Camera that can shoot 24 frames per second, they decided to experiment with Digital Posters. They set up a scene, lit it as if it was a photographic shoot and started filming.

The result is a poster that comes to life.

Quite cool and I’m sure we’d get some nice One Shot Films out of this technique.
